HOISINGTON — Helen Lucille Burris, 83, died Friday July 5, 2013 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. She was born October 21, 1929 in Emporia, the daughter of George and Letha (Smith) Flott.
Helen married Marion Burris on August 13, 1950 in Emporia. A long time Hoisington resident since 1950, she was a homemaker and mother of six children. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and altar society in Hoisington. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and playing bingo.
Survivors include her husband, Marion Burris of the home; three sons, Tom and wife Susan Burris of Kansas City, Mo. Mark Burris and wife Sonja of Lexington, S.C., Troy Burris and wife Cindy of Bushton; three daughters, Donna Ash and husband Pete of Blanchard, Okla., Kathy Burke and husband Ed of Antelope, Calif., Kerry Underwood and husband Pat of Spring, Texas; two brothers, Don Flott of Nixa, Mo., Dick Flott of Houston, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jimmy, Lester, George, Bob and one sister Margaret.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father Anselm Eke as celebrant. Interment will follow at Hoisington Cemetery in Hoisington. Visitation will be held Monday July 8 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Memorials may be given to Kans For Kids in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
