GREAT BEND — Helen Mae Frees, 86, died Sept. 20, 2011, at Rehabilitation Center of Raymore in Raymore, Mo.
She was born Dec. 28, 1924, in rural Ellinwood, the daughter of William and Bertha E. Bayer Peters.
She was a longtime resident of Great Bend, living in Arizona and Missouri for the last eight years. She was a homemaker, secretary for Wolf Mill in Ellinwood and business manager and part owner of Frees/Dunlap Pharmacy in Great Bend.
On Dec. 3, 1945, she married Lynwood P. Frees at Ellinwood. He died on Aug. 5, 1999.
Mrs. Frees was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Lynn Frees and wife Carol, Ellinwood; a daughter, Janice Lynette Hildebrand and husband Steve, Lees Summit, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Lacy Frees, Shawnee; and Austin Frees, Raymond.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ of Ellinwood with the Rev. Katrina Palan officiating. Burial will be in the Lakin-Commanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood.
Friends may visit from 1-8 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m., at Kimple Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood or Heart of America Alzheimer’s Association Team: Helen Mae Hope.
