ELLIS — Irene C. Boos, 90, of Ellis, died Nov. 26 at her home. She was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Pfeifer, to Anton and Barbara (Unrein) Leiker. She married Paul P. Boos on Aug. 9, 1938, in Hays. He preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 2004. Irene lived most of her life on a farm south of Ellis where she was a homemaker and a partner with her husband working on the family farm.

Mrs. Boos was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Daughters of Isabella and Christian Mothers.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas L. Boos of Great Bend, Dennis L. Boos of Salina and Mark F. Boos of Ellis; four daughters, Amelia "Millie" Winterscheidt and Rita Younger, both of Ellis, Lila Margreiter of Browns Summit, N.C., and Barbara Barkley of Lindenhurst, Ill. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lucy, a son, Gerald, five brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
