Irvin J. Gerstenkom 1945 - 2015

 DUMAS, Texas — Irvin J. Gerstenkom, 70, of Dumas, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Irvin was born on June 22, 1945, to Hubert Leo and Mary Rose (Oborny) Gerstenkom in Hoisington. He was a part of the Dumas community since 1981.
Mr. Gerstenkom was a member of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed umpiring baseball games, fishing and camping.
Survivors include three children, Kevin Gerstenkom and wife Sherri of Blue Ridge, Texas, Brandy Banks and husband Chad of Piedmont, Okla., and Kristen Packebush and husband Johnny of Dumas, Texas; three grandchildren, Bailey, Tyler and Nolan Banks, all of Piedmont, Okla.; two sisters: Joyce Winslow of California and Sally Bentley of Oak Park, Calif.; and two brothers, Marvin Gerstenkom and wife Suzanne of Sandwich, Mass., and Dave Gerstenkom and wife Lynn of Liberal; and his mother of Great Bend. He is preceded in death by his father.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Garcia officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. The family suggest memorials be to Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church Building Fund, 900 Bruce Ave., Dumas, TX 79029.
