MCCRACKEN — Ivan Dale Janke, 56, passed away on Oct. 20 at his home in rural McCracken. Born Jan. 20, 1956 he was the son of Alvin and Ruth (Moore) Janke. They preceded him in death. Ivan graduated McCracken High School in 1974 and attended Fort Hays State University where he met Peggy Stude of Garfield. They were married Oct. 7, 1978 in Larned. He raised cattle and operated the family farm of McCracken.
Ivan followed God’s word at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Hays. He was the Assistant Fire Chief for the McCracken Volunteer Fire Department, President of the McCracken Rural Water District, and volunteered for the annual McCracken Rodeo
He leaves behind his wife Peggy Janke; daughter Megan Janke and Jason Abernathy, of Buhler; two sons, Landon Janke and Jordan Janke, both of McCracken; his dog Rocco; and a sister, Margaret Allen of Arkansas.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Hays. Burial will be at the McCracken Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the McCracken Volunteer Fire Department.
