CHASE — Janice C. Peterson, 76, died Oct. 16 at her residence in rural Chase. Born April 12, 1934, in Lyons, she was the daughter of Amos R. and Helen Martha Long Foote. She graduated from Chase High School in 1952 and in 1955 from the Wesley Hospital Nursing Program. On May 8, 1954, she married Marion F. Peterson in Chase. He died March 19, 2003. A lifetime resident of Chase, she was a retired registered nurse, working at the Lyons District Hospital and the Lyons Medical Center.

Mrs. Peterson was a member and an elder of the Community Presbyterian Church in Chase, Daughters of the American Revolution, Chase High School Alumni, the Worthwhile Club in Lyons and various card clubs.

Survivors include a son, Steven and Wiletta Peterson of Chase; two daughters, Cathy and Ben Delgadillo of Larned and Carolyn and Marvin Piper of Scribner, Neb.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Foote.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Community Presbyterian Church in Chase with the Revs. Jesse and Arlene Patrick officiating. Burial will be at the Chase Springdale Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Birzer Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Community Presbyterian Church or the Center for Basic Cancer Research KSU, all in care of the funeral home.
