ELLINWOOD — Janice Louise Wolfkill, 63, died Feb. 15 at Ellinwood District Hospital. Born Jan. 20, 1951, at Hays, she was the daughter of Eugene and Thecla (Graf) Hammersmith. An Ellinwood resident since 1977, she was a secretary at HI-LA Engine and manager of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She donated her time through her work with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
Survivors include her mother, Thecla (Graf) Hammersmith; a son, Stephen Christopher Wolfkill of Livingston, La.; two daughters, Sheila Wolfkill and Heather Wolfkill, both of Ellinwood; four brothers, Stephen Hammersmith of Olathe, Eugene “Junior” Hammersmith of Ellinwood, Kenneth Hammersmith of Biloxi, Miss., and Terry Hammersmith of Hernando, Miss.; a sister, Pat Orndoff of Ellinwood; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Guzman; her father; and longtime companion Robert Hood.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Love gifts to the family may be sent in care of the funeral home.
