GLENMORA, La. — Funeral services for Janice (McNett) Melder will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 at Amiable Baptist Church in Glenmora, La. 

Janice, 72, of Glenmora entered eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 16. She was born on Sept. 15, 1951 in Great Bend, Kan. to the union of Champion Fredrick McNett and Marie Alice McNett. 

Janice married Roger Melder in September of 1981 and the two raised their family in Glenmora, La. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.

She spent a career in geriatric nursing, devoted to caring for others. She loved to read, crochet, and more than anything to spend time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Raymond McNett and Champion “Butch” McNett. 

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Shawn Melder of Forest Hill, La. and Erik Melder of Alexandria, La.; one sister-in-law, Stella McNett of Alexandria, La.; one sister, Catherine (Howard) Johnson, of Great Bend, Kan.; two brothers, Marvin (Marcia) McNett of Sylvia, Kan., and Fred McNett of Great Bend, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, Natasha, Marie, Kevin, Victoria (Lance), Travis, Champion (Abbie), Luke (Colbie), Jesse, Benjamin, Tylin, and Emma; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
