HOISINGTON — Joe D. Lane, 75, died Oct. 22, 2012 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born Jan. 8, 1937 at Hoisington, the son of Gerald and Verda  (Fox) Lane.
He married Dolores “Lori” Demel Dec. 29, 1960 at Odin.  He worked as a postal carrier retiring in 1999, and previously worked at the Hoisington Dispatch and the Claflin Clarion.
Mr. Lane was a lifelong Hoisington resident. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1955 to 1959.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 1521 and Lake Barton Golf Club where he enjoyed the companionship of his friends.  He also enjoyed his children and grandchildren’s activities and all Hoisington Cardinal sporting events.
He is survived by his wife Dolores “Lori” Lane, of the home; four sons, David Lane, Topeka,  Michael Lane and wife Patti, Hays,  Mark Lane, McPherson, John Lane and wife Jill, Great Bend;
Two daughters, Lori Keller and husband Kevin, Great Bend and Joan Schmidt and husband Daniel, Hoisington; two sisters, Kathy Demel and husband Bernard, Norman, Okla.; Maureen Gant and husband Gene, Las Cruces, N.M.; one brother, Richard Lane and wife Jean, Jacksonville, Fla., sister-in-law, Betty Lane of Albuquerque, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Lane.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on  Oct. 25. The place of service will be St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington with Father Francis Oroffa officiating.
Visitation is at 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, KS.
Interment: St. John Church Cemetery, Hoisington. The Memorial Fund is Clara Barton Foundation Verda Lane Nursing Scholarship Endowment, the St. Rose Foundation to Benefit the Heartland Cancer Center and Kans for Kids in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
