HUTCHINSON — John L. Keener Sr., 60, passed away Sept. 16, 2017, at Hutchinson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hutchinson. He was born in Russell on Oct. 5, 1956, the son of Jackie L. Keener and Margaret Ann (Bean) Kirkpatrick. John worked his entire life as a pipeliner working for Praytor Construction of Russell, Jomax Construction of Great Bend, BRB Construction of Topeka, J.P. Pipeline of Inman, and T. G. Mercer Consulting Service of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing.
John is survived by his mother; three sons, Adam (Megan) Keener, Johnny (Erica) Keener, Nathan (Megan) Keener; three brothers, Chuck (Diana) Bean, Robert (Kelli) Bean, Jim Bean; three sisters, Becky (Bill) Luebbers, Amy (Lew) Raybern, Marie (Don) Taylor; and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Ray Bean; and one sister, Kathy Thacker.
Per his request cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service and burial at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell on at 1 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Interim Hospice of Hutchinson, and left in care of the funeral home.
