John W. Carr, 82, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020, at his home in Great Bend. He was born September 4, 1938, in Ellis the son of Walt and Grace Crist. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Norma (Fuhr). John was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

John was a lifetime resident of Kansas. He was a truck driver for many years after working in the oilfields. He enjoyed fishing, and traveling especially to Branson, Mo. John loved being with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Clara Jean (Pruitt), his parents, brother Jack Carr, sister Sandy Newkirk and two grandsons. 

Other survivors include his five children; Tammy (Billy) Lindsay of North Carolina, Candi (Dion) Vasquez of Hoisington, Joni (Eugene) Carr of Russell, Ray (Carrie) Larson of Great Bend and Jeffrey (Sandi) Carr of Colorado. He has four sisters, Jan Flint of Great Bend, Gloria (Scott) Calloway of Pratt, Tonya Appel of Larned and Kay Gilkey of Hutchinson; one brother Eddie (Rayetta) Crist of Great Bend; fourteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Graveside services will 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 9, 2020 at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Holyrood with pastor Debby Rains presiding. Memorials are suggested to the John Carr Funeral Fund, Great Bend Senior Center, or the Sunflower Angel Tree, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
