LARNED — Joseph Meier, 79, died Sept. 6, 2011 at Larned Healthcare Center.
He was born Jan. 24, 1932 in Hays, the son of Edward and Pauline Leiker Meier. A resident of Larned since 1966, he was a retired custodian at Phinney Elementary School in Larned. On Sept. 13, 1961, he married Coletta M. Ostrander.
Mr. Meier was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Meier and wife Jeri, Braggs, Okla.; a daughter, Debbie Danler and husband Charlie, Larned; four grandchildren, Joe Meier and wife Tanessa, D.J. Meier, Dustin Danler and Casey Danler; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Stetler and Lane. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
A vigil service is scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. A Funeral Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery.
