ROCKPORT, Texas — Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Karen Estelle Doonan, went to sleep on April 22, 2024 surrounded by family. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for her kind and thoughtful gifts, artistic nature, and playful humor.
Born on Dec. 9, 1949 in Waltham, Mass., Karen was a city girl, through and through. She adapted well to the Southern pace of life and was a happy resident of Rockport, Texas for the last 28 years.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Robert Prescott and Jane Iris Bowley, and her sister Rachel Bowley. She is survived by her husband of 43 years Larry Doonan, her children Jennifer (Conrad) Suazo, Laura (Daniel) Middour, and Samuel (Lauren) Doonan; five grandchildren, brothers Donovan Bowley, Brian (Mercedes) Bowley, Robert (Ellen) Bowley, and Christopher (Maggie) Bowley, and sisters Sandra (Edward) O’Brien, and Wendy Bowley, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Karen traveled the world with her family and had the privilege to live in many different places around the globe. Her landscape oil paintings inspire awe and reverence for the natural world. She led a rich life full of love and laughter.
A memorial service was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 1 pm, 1649 W Deberry Ave Aransas Pass, TX 78336.
