GREAT BEND — Kathleen E. Moses, age 70 years, of Great Bend, Kan., passed away at her home in Great Bend on Saturday, morning, July 7, 2018 after a prolonged illness.
Kathleen was born on Sept. 12, 1947 at Vicksburg, Miss. to Luther and Opel (Jones) Ellison and moved with her family at an early age to the North Augusta, South Carolina area. After graduating from high school, she went on to graduate from nursing school in Atlanta, Ga. where she worked as a registered nurse in various healthcare settings. Kathleen also attained a degree in Psychology from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga. She was united in marriage to Earl C. Moses III on Oct. 14, 1978 in Atlanta, Ga. Earl and Kathleen were recruited by the Mid-Kansas Economic Commission to return to Great Bend, Kan. (Earl’s hometown) in June of 1995 to build affordable housing. Some years later Earl and Kathleen formed the rental business, Moses Properties LLC in Great Bend. Kathleen was an avid reader, and also a published author of poems and short stories. Her biggest hobby by far was people – Kathleen loved people. A very giving person, she with the help of her husband Earl formed Genesis Ministry while in Atlanta, Ga., offering help and guidance to those who had suffered catastrophic losses in their personal lives.
Survivors include her husband, Earl C. Moses III, Great Bend, Kan.; one son, Benjamin Earl Moses, Great Bend, Kan.; three daughters, Becky Joy Stanborough, St. Augustine, Fla.; Rebekah Lynn Moses, St. Paul, Minn.; and Rachel Anna (and her husband, Spencer Weatherholt) Moses, Hanover, N.H.; four grandchildren, Abigail and Jake Stanborough, Emmalynn Jo Moses, and Margaret Kathleen Moses-Weatherholt; one brother, James L. (and his wife, Cheryl) Ellison of Columbia, S.C.; and two sisters, Julia (and her husband, Phillip) Jones of Hilton Head, S.C. and Carolyn (and her husband, Ronnie) Gunter of Salley, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronald Eugene Ellison.
Cremation has been chosen. There will be no viewing or services at this time. The family has requested that memorials be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
