LA CYGNE — Kay George, 66, passed away June 12 at her home. Born on Dec. 4, 1946 in Parsons, she was the daughter of William and Ava Kinne George. Kay graduated from Emporia State Teachers College receiving her Masters in Mathematics. She taught briefly in Alma before moving to La Cygne where she taught for 32 years at the Prairie View High School, teaching math and computers. She was also a cheerleader sponsor, Senior Class sponsor, and served as a school board member for USD 362.
Ms. George was an active member in PEO Chapter CV.
Survivors include a brother Dale George and wife Joann; three nieces, Jenifer Vanskike, Brenda Fish and husband Craig, Marilyn Ille and husband Mike; two nephews, Bruce George, and Gary George and wife Berniece; a great nephew Todd Vanskike and wife Amanda; three great-nieces, Morgan Vanskike, and Ashlynn and Bailey George; a great-great-nephew Gavin Vanskike; a great-great-niece, Gentry Vanskike; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.  
Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory La Cygne Chapel. Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the East Hill Cemetery in Erie. The family suggests contributions to the Linn Co Sharing Bucket or La Cygne Public Library.
