Leo John Hall, 87, passed away July 2, 2022, at the University Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus, Great Bend, Kan. He was born on Dec. 3, 1934, at Great Bend, Kan., to Leo and Bertha (Woods) Hall. On Jan. 31, 1971, he married Jane Francis Buser at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Wichita. She died April 3, 2013.
A lifetime resident of Stafford County, Leo graduated from Great Bend High School, then later proudly served his country in the Army, stationed at Fort Riley. He spent his professional life as a farmer and rancher, especially enjoying wheat harvest, knowing all the other harvests would soon follow, and providing jobs and meals to many. Leo believed in Faith, Family, serving others, and continuing the Family Farm. He had a very strong work ethic. Leo was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus, Eucharistic Minister – both in church and delivering to those home bound, National FFA Farmer, and a member of the North Seward Township for around 25 years. He was a former member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Seward, St. John the Apostle Catholic Church of St. John, committee member for the Prince of Peace Parish Endowment and finance council member of the Prince of Peace.
Survivors include a son, Leon Francis Hall of Great Bend, Kan.; a daughter, Barbara Jane (Daniel) Hall-Grizzell of Great Bend, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Lea Hall of Great Bend, Kan.; and seven grandchildren, Samuel John Hall, Emilee Anastasia Hall, Jacob Francis Hall, Kelli Jane Hall, Karen Ann Hall, Kinze Danielle Grizzell, and Kyla Marie Grizzell. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Sims; and a son, Leonard Carl Hall.
Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Knights of Columbus Rosary and Vigil at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Prince of Peace Parish, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
