OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Leonora G. Tipton, 94, died Oct. 18, 2021, at The Lodge at Brookline Nursing Home, Oklahoma City, Okla. She was born April 15, 1927, in Ellinwood, Kan., the daughter of Edward and Frances (Auchstetter) Schartz.  

On May 28, 1946, she married Francis R. “Tip” Tipton in Ellinwood, Kan. He preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2007.

Leonora was a longtime resident of Hoisington moving to Oklahoma City in 2000 to be closer to family. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society. An avid quilter she made many cherished quilts for friends and family.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Chris Crabtree and wife Melanie of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Tammy Walden and husband Don of Edmond, Okla.; great grandson, Ryan Walden of Edmond, Okla., son-in-law, Don Crabtree of Oklahoma City, Okla., brother, Gilbert Schartz of Great Bend and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and only daughter, Jacqueline Crabtree; brothers, Richard Schartz, Aubrey Schartz, and sisters, Berneice Meckel and Rita Bixby.

Visitation will be 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Rosary will begin at 1 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church celebrated by Father Anselm Eke. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, rural Great Bend, Kan.
