Linda Marqueling, 68, died Sunday, Sept. 4, at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson. Born Aug. 26, 1943, at Fort Scott, she was the daughter of Ralph and Edna (Talbot) Whiteside.
She married Bob Marqueling Aug. 7, 1976, at Hays.
Mrs. Marqueling taught P. E. in Scott City and then was employed by Sunflower Diversified Services after moving to Great Bend. She was senior activities, special needs, and swimming program coordinator at the Great Bend Recreation Center for 18 years, retiring in 2011.
Mrs. Marqueling was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1978 coming from Reno, Nev.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and Golden Belt Community Concert Association. She loved swimming, art, crafts, motorcycle riding, and music. Her greatest love was being around people.
Survivors include: Her husband, Bob Marqueling, of the home; one brother, Ralph Whiteside and wife Sue of Leawood; two sisters, Carolyn Dobbins and husband Dan of Fort Scott and Phyllis Whiteside of Manhattan.
Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m., Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home, with a vigil Service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, also at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Reginald A. Urban officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery North, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
