LYONS —  Loma N. McAtee, 88, died Dec. 18, 2015, at Rice County District Hospital in Lyons. She was born Feb. 5, 1927, at Bushton, the daughter of Harry and Dola Cassingham Groth. She graduated from Bushton High School in 1945.
She married Victor A. McAtee on Oct. 15, 1946, at Frederick. He died Oct. 22, 2007.
A longtime Lyons resident, formerly of Claflin, St. Francis and Grand Island, Neb., she was the head cook for the Claflin Elementary School System and later cooked at the Senior Center at St. Francis. She also worked as a sales clerk and in motel management.
Mrs. McAtee was a member of First Baptist Church, Lyons. She was a former member of Frederick Baptist Church, Claflin United Methodist Church and Music Club in Lyons.
Survivors include two sons, Terry and Jean McAtee, Great Bend, and Farrell and Becky McAtee, St. Francis; daughter-in-law, Kathy McAtee, Yukon, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and  18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randy McAtee; and two brothers, Vernon Groth and Raymond Groth.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at First Baptist Church, Lyons, with the Rev. Joel Grizzle officiating. Burial will be in Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or Hospital District # 1 of Rice County Swingbed in care of the funeral home.
