Lonnie Lee Walter Marquis 1942-2020

Lonnie Lee Walter Marquis, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 16, 2020 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. He was born December 30, 1942 in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Walter D. Marquis and Ada Mae Mattal Marquis; both of whom have preceded him in death. He had four brothers, two sisters, and one half sister. His two brothers, Jack D. Marquis and Ronnie Marquis also precede him in death. 

Lonnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, wildlife, the great outdoors, and spending time with his family. He married Shirley Loriene Bryant December 24, 1963 in Larned, Kansas. He had 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren through this marriage. 

Lonnie moved back to Great Bend, Kansas in July of 2019 after living in Sallisaw, Oklahoma where had lived for over 20 years with his second wife, Carol Joyce Frazier Sharp Marquis; whom preceded him in death. He had 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren of the heart through this marriage. 

Survivors include : two daughters, Tina Robertson and her husband Kenny of Great Bend, Kansas, Darla Sporn and her husband Rusty of Great Bend, Kansas; one son, Lonnie Lee of Hoisington, Kansas; two sisters, Carol Denny of Littleton, Colorado, Sally Keeslar and her husband Vern of Longmont, Colorado; one half sister, Diane McFann of Garfield, Kansas; two brothers, Jerry of Raymore Missouri, John and his wife Pam of Ogallala, Nebraska and many nieces, nephews, and friends. 

A memorial service to celebrate Lonnie’s life will be planned at a later date. 

Memorials may be sent to the City of Great Bend Zoo in Great Bend, Kansas or to the Central Kansas Dream Center in Great Bend, Kansas.
