Lucile M. Berges 1917 - 2016

Lucile M. (Cosandier) Berges, 98, formerly of Onaga, passed away Jan. 12, 2016, at the River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. Born June 27, 1917, at Onaga, she was the daughter of Philip and Leah Rossier Cosandier. On May 23, 1943, she married Glenn L. Berges at Onaga. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2000. She graduated from Onaga High School and from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. She retired from the teaching profession in 1981.
Mrs. Berges was a member of the First Congregational Church, UCC in Onaga, Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, and Delta Kappa Gamma, Kansas State University Alumni Association. She was also a life member of the Order of Eastern Star and had been a 4-H Clothing Leader.
Survivors include a son, Reen Berges and wife Sandy, of Great Bend; a daughter, Julie Schmitt and husband Bruce, of Onaga; four grandchildren, Jeff Berges and wife Casey, of Kansas City, Mo., Shawndra Harbaugh and husband Mike, of Great Bend, and Keri Zenger and husband Chad, and Becki Mayginnes and husband Zach, all of Onaga; three step-grandchildren, Jim Henkle and wife Angela, of Centerville, Texas, Lee Wilburn and wife Shannon and Shonda Newick and partner Will, all of Great Bend; ten great-grandchildren; fifteen step-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the First Congregational Church in Onaga. Burial with Eastern Star Rites will follow in the Onaga Cemetery. Lucile will lie in state Monday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga where family and friends will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children in care of the funeral home, P.O.
