Marvin J. Hipp, 61, died Jan. 3, 2015, at Lake Point Assisted Living, Wichita. He was born Sept. 1, 1953, at Great Bend, the son of Joseph Lawrence and Thelma Eileen (Fenn) Hipp. He worked for Gibson, Titus and Stafford and then was the parts counter manager for Straub International, for more than 30 years combined. He was a longtime Great Bend resident, recently living in Wichita.


Mr. Hipp was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the church choir. He was an avid bowler and loved golf and traveling.


Survivors include his mother, Thelma Hipp, Wichita; two brothers, Vincent Hipp and his wife June of Springfield, Ohio, and Paul Hipp and his wife Becky of Great Bend; two sisters: Rose Hammerschmidt and her husband Marion of Bartlesville, Okla., and Shirley Buchanan and her husband Russell of Wichita; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Ernest Hipp and infant Henry Hipp.


Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. Mark P. Galbraith and the Rev. Dick Ogle, officiants. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery North. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Lake Point Assisted Living, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
