LARNED — Marvin William Slagle, 89, passed away Feb. 11, 2022 at Country Living of Larned. He was born Feb. 29, 1932 in Ness County, Kan.; the son of George and Marie Van Boskirk Slagle.
A lifetime area resident he was the youngest of six children. He was the president at Production Credit Association and after retiring he worked as an agricultural loan officer for the First National Bank for over a decade. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Larned. Marvin loved playing golf, skiing, and watching sports; especially Wichita State basketball. He loved classical music and ragtime jazz, doing crossword puzzles, and reading. He served in the US Army doing intelligence work.
On April 11, 1953 he married Joan Vogel in Ness City; she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Roger Slagle, Larned and a daughter Nancy (Miley) Mundwiler, Wichita; and four grandchildren; J.C. Slagle, Tyler Slagle, Marie Mundwiler and Samantha Mundwiler. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Beth, Elaine, Lavelle; two brothers, Van and Ray; and two step grandchildren, Trey and Cory Coker.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 16, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary. Memorials may be given to the Knights of Columbus Club #3273 in care of Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.
