MUNJOR — Mary Ann Gross, 74, died Feb. 22, at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Born Aug. 21, 1939, in Hays, she was the daughter of Ignatius and Irene (Werth) Koerner. On April 18, 1959, she married Wilbert Gross in Hays. She was a former licensed hairdresser and spent many years as a homemaker. She loved family gatherings with her children and grandchildren and the special trips she took with the love of her life, Wilbert.
Mrs. Gross was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers of the Church in Munjor.  
Survivors include her husband, Wilbert, of the home in Munjor; two daughters, Shannon Meitler and her husband, Roger of Plainville, and Kelly Spray and her husband, Kip of Great Bend; a sister, Carol Weltmer of Great Bend; seven grandchildren, Kameron, Kaitlee, and Kylee Spray, Chase Meitler, Kelcee Whinery, and Justin and Ross Balthazor; and two great-grandchildren, Krew Whinery and Tate Balthazor. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Lynn Marie Gross and Jody Balthazor; and a brother, Fred Koerner.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Munjor. Burial will be at the St. Francis Cemetery. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday (today) followed by a parish vigil service at 6 p.m., at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m. today and 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. A memorial has been established in her name and memory with the Christian Mothers of St. Francis Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
