Mary Joanita Doll-Masden

Mary Joanita Doll-Masden, 80, passed away on Sept. 30, 2021 at Ellinwood District Hospital in Ellinwood, Kan. Jo was born on Oct. 11, 1940 in Wichita, Kan. to parents Nick and Clarice (Tuttle) Triplett. She graduated from Ellinwood High in 1958 later marrying Darryl Doll on Sept. 20, 1958 at St. Peter & Paul Church they were married 30 years. From this union there were four children Pamela (David) Boxberger, Silver Lake, Kan., Michele Doll, Wichita, Kan., Kimberly (Troy) Berens, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and son, Darren Doll, Wichita, Kan. Darryl died tragically on Oct. 1, 1988. Jo later married Dale Masden of Ellinwood, Kan. at St. Joseph Church on Oct. 16, 1993. They were married for 28 years, he survives of the home. Additional survivors include daughters, Christine (James) Ginns, Kansas City, Mo. and Julie (Tristin) Riley, Casper, Wyo.; sons, Larry Dale Masden, Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Aubrey Jo, Tyler, Payton, Conner, Olivia, Sophie and Tristyn; and six great-grandchildren, Kaeson, Kenadi, Kelton, Kolter, Bryson, and Brody. Joanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darryl Doll; sister, Sue Duft; and daughter, Pamela Boxberger.

Memberships include St. Joseph Catholic Church/Altar Society, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Ellinwood Historical Society, Bridge Club, and was a charter member of the Tri Circle Club. Joanita worked as an area consultant for the library for over 20 years before retirement. She loved Christmas time, traveling, card games with friends and family, and cherished time with her grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will take place 10:30 a.m., Tues., Oct. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood, Kan. with Father Terrance Klein officiating. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will take place Mon., Oct. 4, from noon-6 p.m. with Altar Society Rosary at 3 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Vigil service will take place that evening at St. Joseph Church at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to “Jo’s Jingle basket” in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
