HOISINGTON — Mary Sue Schneider, 82, died January 24, 2022, at Diversicare of Larned, Kansas. She was born May 22, 1939, in Hoisington, Kansas, the daughter of Willard and Ruby (Edgell) Anderson. Mary Sue graduated from Hoisington High School in 1957 and later received her diploma from Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas. 

A lifetime Hoisington resident, Mary Sue worked as a secretary for 42 years at the Barton County Extension Office. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Hoisington. Mary Sue loved spending time with her friends and the DQ Coffee Girls. She was very active and was insistent about walking her laps at the Hoisington Rec Center. Mary Sue had was a lover of cats, especially her boy, Bray.

On February 20, 1960, she married Gerald Schneider in Hoisington. They later divorced.

She is survived by: a daughter; Lynn Kern and granddaughter, Kennedy Kern, both of Great Bend; nephew, Brandon Fleshman, of California; and four great-nieces and one great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Charlotte Bryant.

Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Rhonda Templing presiding. Inurnment will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
