Maxine R. Heueisen 1933 - 2014

Maxine R. Heueisen, 80, died Feb. 23 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 23, 1933 in Stafford County, she was the daughter of Earl and Jesse (Ballinger) Carr. On Nov. 26, 1955, she married Charles Heueisen in Larned. He died on April 17, 1979. A resident of Great Bend since 1997, coming from Larned. She was employed in the admissions department at Larned State Hospital, previously employed as the activities director at the Great Bend Manor and served as a case worker for the Center For Counselling. She had also previously operated the Meals on Wheels program in Syracuse. Maxine was known for her sense of humor and her love for her family.
Maxine was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, Altar Society, the Daughters of Isabella, and an election board volunteer, all in Great Bend. She also had been a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and a Food Bank volunteer, all of Larned.
Survivors include one son, Dean Heueisen and wife Jackie of Blue Springs, Mo.; two daughters, Debra Hamlin and husband Greg of Wichita, and Donna Zimmerman and husband Ray of Great Bend; one sister, Beulah Vratil of Great Bend; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jason Hamlin and wife Karen, and their children Grace Harmon, Nick Harmon, and Sadie Hamlin, Justin Hamlin, Joel Hamlin, Sara (Zimmerman) Winegarner and husband Larry, and their children Makalyn and Sophie, Cory Zimmerman, Rachel Heueisen, and Gage Heueisen. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Parker Carr, Earl Carr, Jr., and Clair Carr; and by one sister, Alvena Carpenter.
Altar Society Rosary will be held at 4 p.m., with a Vigil Service with D of I Rosary at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, both at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Prince of Peace Parish, in care of the funeral home.
