HOISINGTON — Megan E. Escalante, 30, died Sept. 6, 2011 in Reno County.
She was born Jan. 13, 1981 at Russell, the daughter of John M. and Catherine R. (Munk) Debes.
She married Chris Escalante July 19, 2008 at Topeka. She worked for Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington as a medical lab scientist. Megan grew up in Hoisington and lived in Topeka for 11 years before returning to to Hoisington in 2010.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington. The 1999 Hoisington High graduate earned her associate degree from Washburn University, Topeka and her bachelor degree in clinical science from Wichita State University in 2010.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Escalante, of the home; her parents, John M. Debes and wife Catherine R. Debes, Hoisington; a brother, Captain Joshua M. Debes and wife Julia A., Fairfax, Va.; parent-in-laws, Alex and Emma Escalante, Topeka; brother-in-laws, Anthony Escalante and wife Ann, Topeka; and Scott Escalante and wife Erin Nicole, San Antonio, Texas; four nieces and one nephew, “the Escalante Family,” numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Officiant Father Francis Oroffa.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. A vigil service is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
