Melvina Mary Francis, 85, died June 10 at Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire. Born Feb. 7, 1928 in Liebenthal, she was the daughter of Adam and Mary (Gaube) Kreutzer. On Sept. 14, 1948, she married Thaine “T.C.” Francis in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend for 48 years, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Francis was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband, Thaine “T. C.” Francis of Wichita; two sons, Dale Francis and his wife Barbara of Houston, Texas and John Francis and his wife Nancy of Great Bend; one daughter, Renee Hawes of Haysville; one brother, George Kreutzer of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren, Joshua Francis, Nicholas Francis, Jordan Schupbach, Brandon Hawes, Ashley Hawes, Candace Hawes, Katelynn Hawes, Leslie Francis, and Morgan Francis; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Aaron Hawes; four brothers, John Kreutzer, Joe Kreutzer, James Kreutzer, and Tony Kreutzer; and four sisters, Geneva Sweetman, Clara Sweetman, Mary McMullen, and Frances Denning.
Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Vigil service with Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Reginald A. Urban officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family School Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.
