GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Michael Dale Milhon passed away peacefully on Sept. 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a deep love of faith and family. He was reunited in heaven with his beloved parents and his cherished granddaughter, MacKenna.
Mike was born in Hutchinson, Kan., on Nov. 7, 1949, to Dale Richard Milhon and Shirley Eileen (McCannon) Milhon. He graduated from high school in Great Bend, Kan., and went on to attend the University of Kansas. While at KU, he worked as a telephone operator for the university and spent time stocking and checking at Rusty’s, known for being the only carpeted IGA.
Mike retired in 2024 after an accomplished 50-year career in the trucking industry. His career began at his father’s Massey Ferguson dealership and culminated in his role as Dealer Principal of Nebraska Peterbilt. A respected figure in the industry, he proudly served various committees and dealer councils throughout the years. Mike valued his relationships with his employees, industry colleagues, and customers.
On Aug. 26, 1978, Mike married the love of his life, Annetta. Together, they built a beautiful family and created lifelong memories, especially through their family vacations.
A man of faith and community, Mike was a member of First Baptist Church until its closure, after which he joined GI Free Church, where he remained an active member until his passing. He was a faithful servant and enjoyed serving in production at First Baptist for many years.
Mike’s passion for technology extended beyond the sound booth. He was blessed with the ability to solve problems and enjoyed helping anyone with computer challenges. He also enjoyed being a member of the South Central Nebraska Corvette Club.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Annetta; his three children, Gabryal Milhon, Grady (Justina) Milhon, and Sunny (Kevin) Forrest; and his siblings, Larry (Melissa Ness) Milhon and Sandy (Mike) Niedens. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Brayden (Ashley) Milhon, Riley (Ashley) Milhon, Camryn (Reagan) Milhon, Klayton Milhon, Charlotte Forrest, Michelle Forrest, Brecklyn Milhon, Megan Forrest, Cashton Milhon, and Willow Forrest; his step-grandchildren, Demri (Josh) Luzbet, Sydni Petersen, and Caden Petersen; his great-granddaughters, Raylynn and Ellianna; and his step-great-grandchildren, Dawson, Lakyn, Mabel, Archer, and Maverick.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 S. Locust St., Grand Island, Neb. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Friday, Oct. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at GI Free Church, 2609 S. Blaine St., Grand Island, NE.
