Michael Ross Prather 1926 - 2012

GUYMON, Okla. — Michael Ross Prather, 86, of Guymon, Okla. passed away Dec. 3, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla.
The son of Cecil Albert and Nellie Margaret (Reiss) Prather, he was born Sept. 29, 1926 in Luray in Russell County. Mike graduated from Holyrood High School with the Class of 1945. Mike and Othilia “Tillie” Bender were united in marriage on Feb. 22, 1948 at the Bender Hill Lutheran Church in Russell County. Mike worked in the oil field industry for Atlantic Oil, later becoming ARCO, which moved the family from Great Bend to Laverne and Keyes, Okla. before moving to Guymon, Okla. in 1979.
Mr. Prather was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II as a Corporal. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guymon, Okla. and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6240 in Russell.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Tillie Prather, of the home; two daughters: Judy Prather,  Guymon; and Barbara Walton and husband, William, Perry, Okla.; son-in-law, Jerry McLaughlin, Woodward, Okla.; and four grandchildren, Ross Andrew McLaughlin and wife, Kasie, Edmond, Okla.; Erin Margaret McLaughlin, Tulsa, Okla.; Dorothy Walton and Kurt Walton, both of Perry, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Prather and Nellie Prather-McElroy; a brother, William Alfred Prather; a sister, Doris Bryant; and a daughter, Mary McLaughlin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guymon, Okla. with the Rev. Mark Wescoatt officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Okla. The Prather family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
