Mildred Arlene (Tamerius) Wood 1921 - 2013

RUSSELL — Mildred Arlene (Tamerius) Wood, 91, died June 22, at the Hays Medical Center. Born Dec. 10, 1921, on the family farm in Taylor County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Hoyt and Hazel (Field) Tamerius. She grew up in Northern Missouri and Southern Iowa. On July 23, 1939 she married Francis Duane Wood. He died on June 3, 1981. Moving to the Russell area in 1977, she was a homemaker and was employed at the Russell Regional Hospital for several years.
Mrs. Wood was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and the Russell Regional Hospital Auxiliary.   
Survivors include two sons, Larry Wood of Danville, N.H. and Steven Wood of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two daughters, Sharman Haselhorst of Great Bend, and Kris Gibson of Monterey, La.; two brothers, Cecil Tamerius of Belleville and Ed Tamerius of Hannibal, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband; six brothers; and a granddaughter.
Celebration of Mildred’s Life will be held at 3 p.m. today at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the Russell Hospital Auxiliary in care of the funeral home.
