Richard D. Mitchell 1944 - 2015

Richard D. Mitchell, 71, went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 24, 1944, in Texas, he was the son of Lawson and Nettie Mae Mitchell.

Richard and his wife Doris were owners and operators of Mitchell’s Bakery of Great Bend, which started in Ellsworth before moving to Great Bend in January of 2000. He had been a baker most of his adult life.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; two daughters, Tammy and husband Shaun of Utah and Gwen of Salina; two sons, Ken and wife Kay of Texas and Chris and his wife Dahn of Hong Kong; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers Kenneth and Stephen.

 Memorials are suggested to the First Assembly of God for Mission Work.


Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 1, at the First Assembly of God. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
