LARNED — Rosalee Roth, 81, passed away Feb. 3, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence.
Born Sept. 16, 1932, in Tulsa, Okla., she was the daughter ofJames Earl Osborne and Myrtle Pansy (Karr) Osborne.
Rosalee grew up in Wichita and graduated from Wichita East High School in 1950. She attended Kansas University and graduated with a BA in English in 1954. On Sept. 11, 1954, she married Robert Eugene Roth in Wichita. They lived in Oklahoma City from1955 to 1957 while Robert served in the United States Air Force. They then moved to Larned and lived there for 51 years where they raised their family. Rosalee enjoyed her volunteer days of teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and as a Girl Scout Leader. Later she was a survivor chairperson for the American Cancer Society Relay for Lifeof Pawnee County and a volunteer for Program Set Free Prison Ministry. She and Robert moved to Lawrence in 2008. Mrs. Roth attended Lawrence Free Methodist Church and volunteered for Family Promise of Lawrence.
Survivors include a son, Richard Roth and wife Richelle, Larned; a daughter, Libby Best and husband Mike, of California; Lawrence;
a sister, Virginia McAdoo, San Clemente, Calif.; a nephew, Larry McAdoo of California; a niece, Debbie Lohrman of California; five grandchildren, Mark Best and wife April, Lawrence; Sarah Kohls and husband Mark, Topeka; Realle Roth, Littleton, Colo.; Ry Roth and wife Katherine, and Raven Roth, all of Larned; and two great-grandchildren, Grayson Kohls and Hanna Kohls, Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2009; a granddaughter Reanna Roth; and a brother-in-law, Norman McAdoo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Roy Savage presiding. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Beckwith Mortuary, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the mortuary with family present. Memorials may be given to the Family Promise of Lawrence or the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Pawnee County, in care of the funeral home.
