Roy William Froetschner Jr. 1921 - 2011

GILBERT, ARIZ. — Roy William Froetschner Jr., died Aug. 29. Roy was the second son born to Roy Sr. and Mary (Stauffer) Froetschner on Dec. 12, 1921 He graduated from Larned High School class of 1939. On Nov 22, 1961, Roy married Maggie Akers in Larned. He retired from the ASCS Office in Larned in the mid 1980s. Roy and Maggie eventually made their permanent home in Florence, Ariz.

Roy served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of the Spirit of Joy United Methodist Church in Coolidge Ariz. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7271 in Larned and a past post commander. He was an avid bowler and spent his retirement years square dancing, bowling, playing golf and working in the Three Parks Fairways pro shop in Florence.

He is survived by spouse Maggie Froetschner of Florence, Ariz.; a daughter Mickey (Patrick) Hicks, of lola; two sons, Clayton (Regina) Akers, of Pawnee Rock, and Robin (Barbara) Froetschner, of Great Bend; four brothers Donald (Lorene), Roland (Janie), Marion (Helen), and Kyrle (Karen), Froetschner, all of Larned; two sisters, Donna (Norman) Christiansen of Garden City and Cordelia (Dick) Overfield of Omaha, Neb., one sister-in-law Georganna Froetschner, of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jackie Lemuz; three brothers, Glenn, Bob and Wayne; and two sisters, Wilma Froetschner and Marvel Field.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the First United Methodist Church of Larned. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are appreciated to Spirit of Joy United Methodist Church of Coolidge, 392 W. Roosevelt Ave., Coolidge AZ 85228, or the American Cancer Society.
