Ruby Alvina Wells 1924 - 2013

LA CROSSE —  Ruby Alvina Wells, 88, died July 11 at Hays Medical Center, Hays.  Born Dec. 10, 1924 at Bison, she was the daughter of Henry P. and Mary M. (Leinweber) Popp.
Mrs. Wells was a Great Bend resident since 1940 coming from LaCrosse.  During World War II, she was a rivetor at Boeing, Chicago. She married Kenneth Wells in 1954 at Barton County.  They were divorced.  She was a homemaker and telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, was a nurse aide at Central Kansas Medical Center and retired from Dart-In.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  She was an avid walker, loved crossword puzzles, and current events.
Survivors include one son, Doug Well, and three daughters, Debi (Steve Sr.) McAnulla, Carol (Bill) Herrman, and Cherie Davis; two sisters, Betty Wiziarde and Geneva Steinert, all of Great Bend.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Popp, Elmer Popp, Richard Popp; and two sisters, Alma Lech and Virginia Azzaro.
Private funeral services were conducted Monday, July 15, 2013.  Private family inurnment will be at a later date in Great Bend Cemetery.
