INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Sam Michael Doherty, 21, of Independence, Mo. passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 16, 2018, at Centerpoint Medical Center.
Graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at the Larned Cemetery, Larned with Pastor Bill Stapleton officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
Sam was born Jan. 13, 1997 in Great Bend, to Tim Doherty and Amy Yeager. Sam spent most of his life in Independence and graduated from Fort Osage High School in 2015. He worked for Ford at their Claycomo Plant. He enjoyed playing basketball and video games.
Survivors include, his mother, Amy Yeager of Olathe, KS; his father, Tim Doherty and wife Michelle of Independence, MO; three sisters, Amber Friess and Brooke Doherty of Independence, MO and Hailey Russell of Olathe, KS; grandparents, Michael and Jill Yeager of Larned, KS, DJ and Ann Chance of Claremore, OK, Kathy Doherty of Medicine Lodge, KS and Debbie Sterne of Independence, MO; great grandparents, Robert and Geneva Pivonka, Larned, Connie Ratliff, Larned; and two nieces and a nephew on the way. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tom Doherty.
