ST. JOHN — Shane Landon Stimatze, 42, passed away Aug. 12, 2017 at his home in rural St. John.
He was born April 11, 1975 at Great Bend, the son of Rick and Toni L. (Bright) Stimatze.
Shane was a 1993 graduate of Macksville High School and attended two years at Barton Community College and two years at Kansas State University. He was a resident of St. John since 2005, formerly of Macksville. Shane was a businessman and owner of Mid-Kansas Ag, Inc. and Squeaks Club, both of St. John. He was a member of the New Jerusalem Church, Pawnee Rock; Stafford County Commissioner, IOOF Lodge, several local gun clubs and an avid pilot. Shane was a referee for the Kansas State High School Athletics Association, officiating at the highest level in high school and at the collegiate level in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference, Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, and the National Junior College Athletic Association National Basketball Tournament.
Survivors include his parents, Rick and Toni Stimatze, Pawnee Rock; a sister, Lacey Vieux (Jason Fitzgerald), Lenox, Iowa; niece and nephews, Colton, Brody, Dylan, Hartley and Nathan; many aunts and uncles and cousins; maternal grandmother, Vivian Bright, Pawnee Rock; and paternal grandparents, Gary and Maurine Stimatze, Macksville.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Lawrence Bright.
Celebration of Life service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18 at Mid-Kansas Ag, Inc, 94 NW 20th Street, St. John, with Rev. Jane Siebert and Rodney Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John. Visitation is scheduled from 1-7 p.m. Thursday at Minnis Chapel, St. John.
