ST. JOHN — Sharon Leigh (Stevens) Walker, age 56, a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Born on March 12, 1962, in Augusta, Ga., the daughter of Roy and Connie Stevens. They raised her in St. Louis, Mo., and Phoenix, Ariz.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Radford of 38 years and her seven children, Rader, Tova, Nyssa, Tacita, Remington, Wrangler, and Atarah. She will be missed by her three grandchildren, Rheya, Ardell and Brock.
Sharon loved children. She devoted her life to them, taking care of her younger siblings, as well as children in the community. She attended high school and college in St. Louis, Mo. She taught kindergarten and Sunday school. After marrying in 1980 and moving to Colorado in 1983, she started her own family. She enjoyed educating them in church, and various public, private and homeschools. She also taught a cake decorating class and ran an in-home daycare. Moved to Hudson, Kan. in 2012 for a more relaxed small-town lifestyle. Leader to Troop 50129 of Saint John. She was an avid crafter, baker and seamstress. “Mom” to many.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4th at 3 p.m., at the Calvary Baptist church in Stafford, Kan., with pastors Mike Eddy and Wade Russell presiding. Inurnment will be at the Union Highland Cemetery, Florence, Colo., at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Atarah Jade Tegan Walker college fund in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O.
