Shelby Lee “Stoney” Stone Sr., 78, died Nov. 1 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born May 14, 1934, at Great Bend, the son of James Nelson and Helen Lee (DuBois) Stone. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was a heavy equipment operator, employed as a crane operator for Chicago Bridge Company and American Bridge Company.
Mr. Stone served during the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army.  
He attended the First Bible Baptist Church, Great Bend.
Survivors include a son, Shelby Lee Stone Jr. of Great Bend; a daughter, Karla Kay Stone of Wichita; a sister, Phyllis Herrman and husband H.J. of Great Bend; and a half brother, Nelson Stone of Great Bend.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Franklin officiating. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Activity Fund, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
