ELLINWOOD — Sondra Lee Wise, 81, passed away at Ellinwood District Hospital on Sept. 29, 2015. Born Dec. 19, 1933, in Wellington, she was the daughter of Richard “Dick” & Nellie (Robinson) Conwell. She was a lifetime Ellinwood resident graduating from Ellinwood High School in 1952.
She married Jack Wise in Ellinwood on July 10, 1953, and they enjoyed 62 years together. She also graduated from Salt City Business College in Hutchinson.
Sondra was a member of the Ellinwood District Hospital Auxiliary, the Chamber of Commerce in Great Bend, Grove Park Golf Club, and was an organizer and sponsor for Meals on Wheels, Barton County Youth Care (a girls’ home in Great Bend), and the After School Program associated with the Ellinwood Grade School. She also was the owner and secretary of Dick’s Engine Service for 47 years.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, of the home; son, Andy (Joanie) Wise, Ellinwood; daughter, Robin (Donald) Moos, Ellinwood; and brother, Richard (Candy) Conwell, Great Bend. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Tiffany Eaton, Kendra Kaiser, Cassandra Batchman, Keri Vinduska and Leslie Humphreys; and 10 great-grandchildren, Chandler and Chance Eaton, Ava, Landon and Mya Kaiser, Cale, Alyvia and Mallory Batchman, and Emery and Sydney Vinduska. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Sherrie (Conwell) Johnson, and a son, Randy Bill Wise.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. There will be a private burial at a later date at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood.
