DENVER, Colo. — Sylvia Ann Welch, 79, died Nov. 14 at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colo. Born July 18, 1933 in Hoisington, she was the daughter of J. David and Esther (Ehrlich) Marmie. On May 17, 1954, she married Charles E. Welch in Great Bend. They later divorced. A resident of Denver, Colo. since 1954, coming from Great Bend, she was employed by J.C. Penney, May D & F, Circuit City, Mountain Bell and owned and operated a Dolly Madison Creamery in the 1970s.
Survivors include three sons, David Welch, and his wife Lynn Halpern of Coal Creek Canyon, Colo., Robert Welch and Michael Welch, both of Denver, Colo., a daughter, Sherri Grunwald of Riverton, Wyo.; a sister, Paula Briseno of California; four grandchildren, Jessie Welch, Mikey Welch, Cherylynn Grunwald, and Gary Grunwald; three great-grandchildren, Ace Plunkett, Aribella Plunkett, and Dashton Grunwald; and dear friend: Jerry Cardinal of Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Susan; and son-in-law, Kurt Grunwald.
A vigil service with rosary will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Reginald Urban officiating. Burial will be at the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Hoisington. Friends may visit from noon to  7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
