Terry Kent Mawhirter, age 72, was born in St. John, Kan. on Feb. 17, 1949 at the St. John Hospital to Kenneth and Ardena Mawhirter. He was the seventh of nine children. Terry passed away on Oct. 11, 2021 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kan.

Terry lived and farmed his whole life in Stafford County. He was a farmer and heavy machinery mechanic. His passion was farming, and he dedicated his life to his family.

Terry and his family are members of the First Southern Baptist Church in Pratt, Kan. He was a born again Christian and is now at home with his Savior.

Terry will be missed by many, and he is survived by wife Karen Mawhirter of St. John, Kan.; son Shannon Mawhirter of Stafford, Kan., son Aaron Mawhirter of St. John, Kan., son Cameron Mawhirter and wife Natasha Mawhirter, son Cassidy Mawhirter and wife Leah Mawhirter; as well as nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Terry is proceeded in death by his parents and three siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church located at 193 NE Hwy 61 in Pratt, KS on October 16  at 10 a.m.  with Pastor Brian Barton presiding. All memorial funds will be used toward Terry’s medical expenses. They can be mailed to SCT LLC in care of Cameron Mawhirter at P.O. Box 445 St. John, KS 67576.
