BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Tilman John Garrett, 86, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at Senior Suites in Broken Arrow, Okla.
He was born Nov. 6, 1924 at Pine Ridge, Ark., the son of Wayman Garrett and Ida Standridge Garrett.
Tilman grew up in Oden, Ark. and attended Oden High School. Tilman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1945. He was a POW in Germany for seven months and was a member of the POW Organization National.
Tilman was employed with BF Goodrich, was a UAW rubber worker. He retired in 1986 after 40 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Mailath, Tulsa, Okla.; Derinda Bussman, Great Bend; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Tilman was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
A graveside service is scheduled at noon Monday, Sept. 26 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Okla. With Jack Selby officiating.
