Verl Lee Martin, 84, died Dec. 8, 2014, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. He was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Utica, to Clade and Sylvia (Everhart) Martin. He had been a Great Bend resident since 1971. He was retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad as a truck driver.
Verl was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include a son, Rodger Martin of Emporia; four daughters, Carol Leiker of Lebanon, Missouri, Shauna Lang of Wakeeney, Lori Quenzer of Hiawatha, and Kami Martin of Lubbock, Texas; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his ex-wife Jean Martin, Great Bend; a stepson Chris and stepdaughter Connie.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Martin of Hoisington; a son, Tod Martin of Hoisington; a daughter, Keri Sue Martin; and two granddaughters, Tranessa Kay and Stacy Lynn.
There will be a graveside service held at Utica Cemetery at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. Memorial funds for burial expenses may be sent to Shauna Lang, 712 Junction Ave., Wakeeney, KS 67672.
