Victor Frederick Oberle

Victor Frederick Oberle, 91, died Dec. 5, 2020, at Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth.  He was born May 19, 1929, in Bushton, to Anton and Lena (Feist) Oberle.  Victor married Mary Rose Wondra April 14, 1953, in Odin.  She survives. 

Victor, a long-time resident of northern Barton County, owned Oberle Sand and Gravel Co., which he operated from 1977 until his retirement in 1991.  He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin, and American Legion Argonne Post 180, Great Bend.  He served his country, during the Korean Conflict, in the U.S. Army 216th Chemical Division, from 1950 to 1952.  He enjoyed playing pitch, solitaire, and checkers and was an avid bike rider.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rose of the home; one son, Ray Oberle and wife Sandi of Claflin; two daughters, Patricia Schmidt and husband David of Claflin and Christine Robl and husband Quentin of Salina; 11 grandchildren, Tami Tully, Eric Schmidt, Travis Schmidt, Emily Perterson, Nicole Ball, Rebecca Brown, Kaylyn Price, Jacob Oberle, Megan Robl, Jared Robl and Tanner Robl; 15 great grandchildren; and one brother Paul Oberle of Kansas City, Kan.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Oberle; six brothers, George Oberle, Joe Oberle, Tony Oberle, Oscar Oberle, Elmer Oberle, Robert Oberle; and by one sister, Agnes Marie Hickey.
Public visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Due to the current pandemic restrictions, services, with Father Terrance Klein presiding, will be private.     

Interment will be in Claflin Cemetery, Claflin. The Rosary and Mass of Christian can be viewed Thursday afternoon, by visiting www.nicholsonrickefh.net. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Claflin Ambulance Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS  67544.
