SEWARD — Violet Morton, 92, died Feb. 15 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born Sept. 25, 1921 at Seward, the daughter of Guy and Mary (McGinty) Smith.
She married Loyd D. Morton Sept. 16, 1945 at Seward.  He died Sept. 21, 2006. She was co-owner and operator of Morton Standard Service and also the family farm. Mrs. Morton was a Seward resident most of her life, moving to Great Bend in 2005 and then to Ellinwood. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Seward.
She is survived by one daughter: Mary Devlin and her husband Dennis of Great Bend; daughter-in-law: Karen Morton of Great Bend; five grandchildren: Debi VonLintel and her husband Larry of Hoxie; Tami Morton of Great Bend; Bryon Morton and his wife Jan of Great Bend; Stacie Pierce of North Platte, Neb.; and Douglas Devlin of Great Bend; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James Morton, one brother, Russell Smith, and one sister, Gladys Shelton.
Rosary is at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Seward. Celebrant is Father Rene Guesnier. Interment is at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Seward. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, February at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Altar Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
