MCPHERSON —Virginia Edna Saling-Marx, 85, of McPherson, passed away Monday, Feb. 21 while in the company of family members at Hospice House, Hutchinson. Mrs Marx was born in Bazine on Oct. 14, 1925, the daughter of George and Lizzie (Dell) Stieben - Adolph. Virginia attended the Bazine grade schools and attended Bazine High School, Bazine, Kansas.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church McPherson. Virginia was a former member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

Virginia was a homemaker and had a janitorial service along with her husband Lawrence until Lawrence’s retriement when she went to work in House Keeping for Holiday Manor for 17 years until her retirement in 1998. Virginia was a member of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary.

Virginia Edna Stieben was united in marriage to Lawrence Eldred Saling on Jan. 14, 1946 at Great Bend, Kansas. Lawrence died on March 1, 1992. Virginia then married Bruno R. Marx on May 30, 1998 at Hutchinson, Kansas.

Surviving family members include her husband Bruno Marx of McPherson; her children, Earl E. Saling of Sabetha, George E. Saling of Lyons, Dorothy Lauderdale of McPherson, Carol Kirkpatrick of McPherson, and Mary Kindlesparger of Salina; her step children, Sieglinde Marx of Leavenworth, Kansas, Jutta Beard of Maryland, and Irmtraud Shuler of Nickerson, Kansas; her brother Kenneth C. Stieben of Dodge City, Kansas; her nine grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence Saling; a son, Keith D. Saling

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 25 from 4 to 7p .m. with family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson.

The funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, with The Reverend Tim Leaf officiating.

Final resting place will be McPherson Cemetery McPherson

Memorial contributions may be given to McPherson Relay For Life or Hospice House of Hutchinson and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home.
