EUREKA, Mo. — Virginia Louise Deines, 96, died May 21, 2024, at St. Andrews at Francis Place in Eureka, Mo. She was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Hoisington, Kan., the daughter of Benjamin L. and Ada Correne (Maiden) Shull. Virginia graduated from Hoisington High School in 1945.
On April 4, 1947, she married Reuben R. Deines, in Butler County, Kan. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2003.
Virginia and Reuben raised their family in Hoisington, where they were members of the First United Methodist Church, and she was active in the Order of the Eastern Star Golden Sheaf Chapter #226. Virginia worked as a medical records technician for Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. After retirement they would winter in Texas. In 1998 they decided to move permanently to Texas and resided in the Alamo area. Virginia spent 10 years in Texas until moving closer to her daughter in Missouri living in Ellisville and then Eureka for the past 16 years.
She is survived by her three children, David R. Deines of Wichita, Linda D. Varner and husband Don of Wildwood, Mo., and Dale B. Deines of Salina; three grandchildren, Adam Varner of Winchester, Mo., Rachel M. Varner of Chesterfield, Mo.; and Kristina Brengle of Valley Park, Mo.; and a great-grandson, Kaden Brengle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Benjamin Earl Shull; and a grandson, PFC Paul N. Varner.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Daniel Vandenburg presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
