NEWTON — Virginia S. Shawver 78, died Feb. 17, at Bethesda Home in Goessel. Born May 21, 1932 in Larned, she was the Claude and Evelyn (Unruh) Wyman. On Oct. 11, 1953 she married Leslie Shawver in Larned. He preceded her in death. She enjoyed sewing and cross stitching. Virginia also enjoyed antique furniture restoration. Her family was important to her and she greatly looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends.
Virginia was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton.
Survivors include her daughters Susan Brown and her husband Ted of Great Bend, and Sandra Jackson of Leavenworth; a sister Erma Jones of Chillicothe, Mo.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; het husband; one sister Estelle Tackett; and five brothers Howard, Donald, Claude Jr., Arthur and Maurice Wyman.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Newton with Chaplain Denny Bell presiding. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Larned City Cemetery, with The Rev. Bill Johnson presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 Monday at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorials may be left with Bethesda Home in care of the funeral home.
